Support our Beacon Park at Scotts Cobble Nordic Center!
Help us reach our $3,500 fundraising goal.
For winter 25/26 we will install an avalanche beacon training park located at Scotts Cobble Nordic Center in Lake Placid, NY! Folks will now have access to this free resource to practice critical rescue skills on their own schedule. This has been made possible in part due to a grant from the Town of North Elba's Local Enhancement and Advancement Fund (LEAF).
Avalanche rescue skills are perishable. The only way to ensure you are ready to rescue your mountain partner is to practice. About 93% of avalanche victims who escape significant trauma can be recovered alive if done so within the first 15 minutes. After that, the odds of survival drop catastrophically. A great way to practice with your avalanche transceiver is at a BCA Beacon Training Park.
Help us reach our $3,500 fundraising goal by becoming a member of the Adirondack Community Avalanche Project, or by donating directly to our beacon park project.
A donation of $25 or more to this campaign will buy you a one year membership to Adk Avy. If you are already a member, please consider renewing now, or donating directly to fund this project.
We look forward to hosting a grand opening event with free avalanche rescue practice sessions this February.
