Observed Avalanche

Slab

D1: Relatively harmless to people.

Likely a natural Wet Slab on a NW aspect around 9AM. Significant warming throughout the week, was around 45* F when photos were taken.

Observation Details

Saw a small avalanche on skiers right of Bennies Brook just below the 3 paths convergence. Crown was roughly 1.5-2 ft deep and 6 ft wide with the toe reaching surprisingly far — around 50-60 yards of run. Start zone was approximately 35 degrees and ran about 50 yards through a 15-20 degree section of the path.

This was the first part of the slide to come into the sun this morning. Just before 9AM.
